Journey through a wide variety of Belize’s ecosystems by venturing on an exclusive tour of the three protected areas co-managed by the Toledo Institute for Development & Environment. The three protected areas to be explored will be Paynes Creek National Park, Port Honduras Marine Reserve and TIDE Private Protected Lands all within the Toledo District, Southern Belize.

Day 1: Arribe To Belize

Welcome to Belize | Punta Gorda Town

After arriving in Belize, you will be met by our friendly TIDE Tours guide at the International Airport in Belize City and you will enjoy a scenic drive to Punta Gorda Town for overnight.

Day 2: Adventure Begins

TIDE | Punta Gorda Town

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at your hotel. Your guide will meet you at your hotel and you will be given a conservation presentation about TIDE’s work in Belize. After lunch, enjoy sightseeing tour around Punta Gorda and surrounding villages and participate in a lively cultural creole drumming lesson at the Maroon Creole Drum School.

Day 3: Conservation Tour

TIDE Private Protected Lands | Punta Gorda

After breakfast, experience the beauty of lush tropical forest by kayaking and hiking at the TIDE Private Protected Lands. You will be accompanied by an expert guide along with a TIDE science staff to talk to you as you kayak down the Rio Grande River to the ranger station. Enjoy a hearty picnic lunch on the ranger station grounds before venturing on an afternoon jungle hike in search for tropical birds and other wildlife. Dinner and overnight in Punta Gorda Town.

Day 4:In The Heart Of Conservation

Paynes Creek National Park | Toledo

Prepare to spend the overnight in the Paynes Creek National Park! This protected area covers over 37,000 acres of land. Situated on the northern coast of Toledo, this park has so much to offer for the naturalist at heart. Spend the morning learning about the underwater Maya City under excavation. Enjoy rustic camping in the eco-cabins in the park and a local community cook prepares all your meals. Visit the nest box project for the rehabiliatoin of Yellow-headed Parrots and enjoy hiking jungle trails with your guide. Dinner and overnight in PCNP.

Day 5: Community Effort

Punta Negra Village Beach Cleanup | Port Honduras Marine Reserve

Venture off by boat to the coast fishing village of Punta Negra to participate in beach cleanup activities with the community. Visit the local fish fry restaurant called the Negra Grill and Tavern and indulge in some fresh seafood bites! Spend the afternoon snorkelling among hundreds of Coral and fishes in the clear waters offshore West Snake Caye stop in at Abalone Ranger Station for a conservation presentation by the rangers before heading back to Punta Gorda town. Enjoy a hearty dinner at one of Toledo’s popular eco-lodges.

Day 6: Return Home

Belize International Airport | Belize City

Air transfer to the Belize International Airport after breakfast from Punta Gorda for your international departure home.
