Day 2&3:Fly-fishing at Port Honduras Marine Reserve | Punta Gorda
On your first two days you’ll fish the rivers and flats closest to Punta Gorda Town and in the Port Honduras Marine Reserve managed by the award winning team of the Toledo Institute for Development and Environment. The Port Honduras Marine Reserve with its mangrove coasts, clear rivers, hundreds of protective Cayes, and the Barrier Reef, forms one of the best fish nurseries in the Caribbean. The waters are chock full of Barracuda, Bonito, Kingfish, Jacks, and Snapper. The real prize of these waters is the elusive Permit. Catching one of these is the challenge set by many fishers. The waters of the Port Honduras Marine Reserve and Payne’s Creek National Park are unparalleled for both numbers of fish and average size, so make a great setting for your first days of fly fishing.
